History and milestones

1982-1999

Early years and global expansion

With a simple vision of ‘wanting to do great things’, Dimension Data is founded in 1983. We cast our net outside the African continent, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, and aligned with Cisco as its primary networking partner.

2000-2004

Multiple technology towers

Our listing on the London Stock Exchange accelerates our ability to enhance our technology value proposition to our clients beyond networking into security, contact centre, and IP telephony. Key acquisitions gave us a foothold in new markets in the UK, North America and Europe.

2005-2009

Move to managed services

We developed our service delivery processes and platforms to enhance the services we deliver to clients, taking on more ownership of business outcomes. We expanded our operations in North America, the Middle East, and Africa and amalgamated our UK and Continental Europe businesses to form one region - Dimension Data Europe.
